Things To Do In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Part 1 : Jesselton Point)

Formely known as North Borneo, Sabah is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo and offers lots of tourist attractions.

Most of the tourist attractions are located outside Kota Kinabalu, which is the capital city of Sabah. But there are a few great places here in Kota Kinabalu too.

Since I spend most of my weekends hanging out with my BFF in search of great places to take pictures, lolz, perhaps I should recommend a few places to visit here in the city of Kota Kinabalu.

If you're planning to visit Sabah, do visit Sabah Tourism Website for a quick browse on the local attractions. Jesselton Point is located at the far end of the city, you can reach there either by walking or by taking a taxi, I prefer walking though, since it's really not that far from Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, but of course the weather in Sabah is freaking hot, so it's better if you reach there as early as possible or later in the evening it you're planning to catch the sunset.

Jesselton Point Waterfront
Situated north of downtown Kota Kinabalu, this quaintly scenic place has an unmistakable historical feel to it—complete with olden days snapshots of Kota Kinabalu city (Jesselton) and vintage red English phone booths. Jesselton Point Waterfront serves as the only ferry terminal for Labuan-bound passengers as well as the main (and cheapest) boat terminal for the Tunku Ab - See more at: http://www.sabahtourism.com/destination/jesselton-point-waterfront#sthash.4PG4Mu9K.dpufJesselton Point is actually a jetty. There's a ferry terminal for Labuan bound passengers and boat terminal for Gayana Island and Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park ( which consist of Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sulug). I'll leave the islands reviews for my next post, lolz.

Jesselton Point Waterfront also offers fishing facilities which charges RM10 per entry. Besides that, there's also a Futsal centre, handicraft stalls, local dining and F& B outlets.

What I really love about this place is the nostalgic feel that it offers. There's lots of black & white pictures on the walls. There's even a vintage red English phone booth that I really love to take pictures with, even the lamps look classically old.

Another thing I love about this place is the sea view. It's so BLUE!

Even my mom loves to take pictures here, lol.

Whether it's your 1st time visiting Sabah or you're a Sabahan who lives in Kota Kinabalu, Jesselton Point is a great place for sight seeing and enjoying the sunset.
