Luna by Nina Ricci

It's a month away from Christmas and here is a current favourite scent of mine. It's a delicious gourmand fragrance that never fails to remind me of the coming festive season.

Luna by Nina Ricci was launched in 2016 and the fragrance was created by perfumers Christophe Raynaud and Marie Salamagne. Luna is the darker, mysterious counterpart to the romantic princess of Nina. Together they're represented in a new campaign called Les Belles De Nina.

This 20ml Mini Luna is a special limited edition bottle. Instead of gold leaves, this bottle has the same round bottle cap as the original Nina.

Top Notes
Wild Berries, Orange Blossom, Lime, Tangerine

Heart Notes
Caramel, Immortelle, Jasmine, Pear

Base Notes
Sandalwood, Madagascan Vanilla, Licorice, White Musk

Luna is for gourmand lovers who prefer a darker edge to their perfume. The opening starts off smelling sweet and caramel-like, with the citrusy top notes blending well with the heart notes, adding some freshness to an otherwise sticky sweet scent. Once it settles on the skin, the sweet caramel-like scent slowly dries down to a powdery, woody and slightly smokey scent of licorice & Immortelle. Madagascan vanilla and Sandalwood softens the overall scent, giving it a sensual vibe.

Luna by Nina Ricci has really great sillage and projects really well. It's heavier than the original Nina which makes it perfect for night wear. Though it's an eau de toilette, it actually last longer than most of my other eau de parfum. I could still smell it's woody drydown 6 hours after spraying it on my wrist.

If you love a heavy, delicious, caramel-like scent with woody, powdery drydown, this is the perfect perfume for you. But if you prefer a fresher, lighter, delicate scent, Nina would probably suits you better than Luna. Overall I find this to be simply irresistible and the blue bottle is simply divine!

Hask Keratin Protein Range

So it's been a while since I last reviewed hair care products. I think I broke my own records for the least number of times I went visiting the hair saloon this year, which is 1, lol. The only time I went to the saloon is on September, when I got my hair straightened, which took 4 hours, a torment for me who don't like to sit still for too long. Luckily, the hairstylist didn't noticed I cut my own hair and proceeded to tell me my hair looks healthy and the layers looks fine. Little did he knew, I went to YouTube, searched for haircut tutorial and chop my own hair, lmao.

Apart from sometimes regularly trimming my own hair, my current hair condition is also contributed by these Hask Keratin Protein Range products, which are great for those with dry and damaged hair. The first 2 products that I'd tried from Hask are the Keratin Protein Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner.

Prior to these, I'd been wearing other brands but decided to switch to Hask as my other shampoos doesn't work so well in keeping my thick tresses smooth and tangle-free. These are also Sulfate-free and Paraben-free. Unlike other Sulfate-free shampoos that I'd tried before, I find this shampoo lathers quite easily, as it contain Decyl Glucoside, a much gentler surfactant or foaming agent in it's ingredients.

If you love fruity scent you're going to love these as they give a subtle berries scent after each wash. These works really well in keeping my hair feeling smooth and silky. My hair feels clean and my scalp doesn't feel itchy and oily.

Hask Keratin Protein Smoothing Deep Conditioner deeply conditions dry and damaged hair. It's great for intense hydration on straggly dry hair. Most hair mask leaves my hair feeling flat but this leaves my hair feeling soft while still making them voluminous.

Hask Keratin Protein Smoothing Shine Oil is the only product from the Keratin Protein Range that I'd never tried out prior to this. I was expecting this to be a normal hair oil, one that makes your hair shine but nothing too extraordinary. So I was a little surprised when I find the texture to be a little thicker than most hair oils and serums, it's viscous but once I apply it to my hair tips, it doesn't feel oily at all, which is great because my hair tends to get oily really fast. It leaves my hair feeling soft with a subtle hint of berries. It also keeps frizz at bay!

If you're interested in learning more about these products, do check out Hask Malaysia, there's a whole wide range of products that will surely fits each and every hair type. For me, my best choice are these Hask Keratin Protein Range. They really works in combating split ends and I no longer wakes up with  poofy hair.  Do try this!

Burberry Women by Burberry

As much as I love trying out new scents and experiencing the difference in their fragrance notes. There are days where I just wanted to smell cozy and warm, something that would suits more of my laid back personality.

I used to wear Fancy Love by Jessica Simpson religiously for years. It's my perfect signature scent as it really blends with my skin, the dry down has a comforting peaches & cream scent that leaves a subtle trail. But now that they're re-formulated my favourite perfume, it doesn't last as long as it used to. My last bottle was bought in 2015 and I've been jumping from one scent to another since then.

For nostalgic sake, I decided to try out this miniature bottle of Burberry Women, which Fancy Love has always been compared to. Burberry Women was released in 1995 and Michel Almairac is the nose behind this iconic scent.

Top Notes
Lavender, Bergamot, Thyme, Mint

Heart Notes
Gerarium, Sandalwood, Moss, Cedar

Base Notes
Amber, Tonka Bean

Burberry Women is a fruity-floral scent. It opens up with a fresh burst of apricot and pear, which dominates the overall scent. Unlike Fancy Love's boozy opening of pink pepper and champagne, Burberry Women is much more fruitier with a hint of herbal from the lavender, tyme and mint.

Once it settles down, the scent slowly starts to resemble Fancy Love's soft, creamy, peaches & cream dry down. The only difference is Burberry has an added woodyness to it, which reminds me a lot of the scent of pencil shavings, strange but I love it. lol.

It's apricoty, musky & woody, perfect for those who prefer a scent that sits close to the skin. It's warm, inviting and very cozy. The only downside is it doesn't last long and it doesn't project well. Apparently it's been re-formulated and the scent is no longer as long lasting as before.

If I have to choose my favourite out of these 2, I would pick Fancy Love as it's floriental notes especially frangipani and amber are much more feminine & romantic. Burberry Women is much more casual and preppy.  A modern scent with city chic vibes. Though lacking in longevity and sillage, both are beautiful, timeless scents.

Olympéa by Paco Rabanne

Olympéa is a feminine perfume by Paco Rabanne. The concept comes from the idea of modern Greek Goddess. It brings to the fore tales of conquests, dynamism, and strength. As a Greek Mythology buff, I simply have to get a whiff of this scent.

  1. Top Notes
    • Green Mandarin, Water Jasmine, Ginger Flower
  2. Heart Notes
  3. Salt, Vanilla
  4. Base notes
    • Ambergris, Cashmere Wood, Sandalwood

On my skin, I get hints of citrusy notes from the green mandarin and ginger flower, it then starts to mellow into a delicious blend of salty vanilla and jasmine. Olympéa is a floriental scent that's perfect for day and night. It doesn't feel too overwhelming on a hot day nor it is too light for night time. This scent has a beachy vibe to it due to the salty notes, it also keeps the vanilla scent from being too sweet.

A long lasting scent with medium sillage. It's intimate, feminine and elegant, a creamy floriental scent that's perfect for a modern Greek Goddess. If you love vanilla and jasmine, do add this to your collection. Another plus?  The bottle design is gorgeous too!

Where's Alice ~ Alice In Wonderland Theme Cafe

There's a new cafe in town and it's an Alice In Wonderland Theme Cafe. Where's Alice is located at Kompleks BSA, Jln Kolombong. It shares the same shop row as Pet Paradise Kota Kinabalu.

Upon entering, there's a narrow hallway that resembles the tunnel that leads you straight to wonderland.

Everything in this cafe is made to look like something out of the world of Alice In Wonderland, including their menu. There's even a classic looking silver hand bell for customers to use when they're ready to order. But of course, we forgot to use it and end up doing some awkward hand waves to catch the owner attention, lol.

The whole deco in the cafe are uniquely creative. These beautiful Alice In Wonderland mosaic designs are hand painted by the owner herself. They're very eye catching and perfect for pictures.

My adorable model of the day, Cayla is in the mood for taking pictures that day. Here she is with a peace sign ^.^

Queensssssss....
Here's Irene posing with a painting replica of herself, lol.

Where's Alice cafe has a really cozy vibe, perfect for tea breaks during those lazy afternoons. Gazing up their ceiling, one would find light blue murals that mimic the clouds 😍

Ready for a tea party?

Drink Me ~ Fizzy drinks in fancy colours

Cake Of The Day ~ Chocolate Mousse Cake

I love chocolate cake and luckily on that day they were serving chocolate mousse cake as their cake of the day. It's creamy and has the perfect blend of sweetness, though the texture is a little dry.

Queen's Spagetti

Alice's Breakfast
They might have forgotten to include the toast, which are missing from this set. lol.

I forgot the fancy name for this menu. lol. It's shredded pork stew which Cayla really likes.

A DIY wedding theme miniature with build in lamps. This is really pretty, reminds me a lot of Alice In Wonderland's White Queen.

Pictures time!

So many butterflies 😍

Their beautiful interior also extend to their toilet. It's painted in shades of blue with stars and constellation adorning the toilet ceiling and walls 😍

If you're looking for a cafe with a different vibe, do come and visit Where's Alice for an otherworldly experience.

Opening Hours : 9 A.M ~ 6 P.M

L de Lolita Lempicka

L de Lolita Lempicka was launched in 2006 and the fragrance was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel. The bottle was designed by Sylvie de France.

From the perfume ad and the aquamarine, pebble heart shaped bottle with the golden net, this perfume reminds me a lot of the deep blue ocean and mermaids. Even though I have an affinity for mermaids, I'm not too fond of aquatic scent, which is why I steer clear from this perfume for years, thinking it as another harsh clean scent.

The only reason why I got this is because of the bottle, it's been discontinued for years and I wanted to get this before it's gone. So imagine my surprise when I first tried it on. Instead of being bombarded with screechy and sharp aquatic scent, I was left with a delicious oriental vanilla scent that conjures images of Christmas baking. I immediately regret not getting a full bottle of this years before it's been discontinued, lol.

  1. Top Notes
    • Bitter orange,
    •
    • Bergamot
  2. Heart Notes
    • Immortal flower,
    •  Cinnamon, Musk
  3. Base notes
      Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Sandalwood

L de Lolita Lempicka opens up with a mixture of citrusy and spicy blends of bitter orange and bergamot. As the top notes slowly dissipates, cinnamon dominates the whole scent, it then slowly dries down to vanilla and sandalwood. A reminiscent of Christmas, where the scent of cinnamon rolls and gingerbread filled the air.

One of the ingredients on the heart notes for L is Immortal flower, or Everlasting flower, a domestic herb that grows on the rocky pastures of the Mediterranean coast, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This is probably where Lolita Lempicka get their mermaid inspiration. Apparently Immortal flower smells a lot like Maple syrup, burnt sugar and honey with a hint of smokey wood. One of the things I love about L and the original Lolita Lempicka are their woody, smokey drydown.

My miniature bottle of L de Lolita Lempicka actually came with a set of lotion and shower gel.The matching lotion and shower gel have the same exact scent with the perfume, they actually make the scent last longer during the day. I would say that this is a must try. Do try it before it's gone forever!
