L de Lolita Lempicka

L de Lolita Lempicka was launched in 2006 and the fragrance was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel. The bottle was designed by Sylvie de France.

From the perfume ad and the aquamarine, pebble heart shaped bottle with the golden net, this perfume reminds me a lot of the deep blue ocean and mermaids. Even though I have an affinity for mermaids, I'm not too fond of aquatic scent, which is why I steer clear from this perfume for years, thinking it as another harsh clean scent.

The only reason why I got this is because of the bottle, it's been discontinued for years and I wanted to get this before it's gone. So imagine my surprise when I first tried it on. Instead of being bombarded with screechy and sharp aquatic scent, I was left with a delicious oriental vanilla scent that conjures images of Christmas baking. I immediately regret not getting a full bottle of this years before it's been discontinued, lol.

  1. Top Notes
    • Bitter orange,
    •
    • Bergamot
  2. Heart Notes
    • Immortal flower,
    •  Cinnamon, Musk
  3. Base notes
      Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Sandalwood

L de Lolita Lempicka opens up with a mixture of citrusy and spicy blends of bitter orange and bergamot. As the top notes slowly dissipates, cinnamon dominates the whole scent, it then slowly dries down to vanilla and sandalwood. A reminiscent of Christmas, where the scent of cinnamon rolls and gingerbread filled the air.

One of the ingredients on the heart notes for L is Immortal flower, or Everlasting flower, a domestic herb that grows on the rocky pastures of the Mediterranean coast, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This is probably where Lolita Lempicka get their mermaid inspiration. Apparently Immortal flower smells a lot like Maple syrup, burnt sugar and honey with a hint of smokey wood. One of the things I love about L and the original Lolita Lempicka are their woody, smokey drydown.

My miniature bottle of L de Lolita Lempicka actually came with a set of lotion and shower gel.The matching lotion and shower gel have the same exact scent with the perfume, they actually make the scent last longer during the day. I would say that this is a must try. Do try it before it's gone forever!

Otafuse 2017 - Day 1

Since I'm a little obsessed with fairy tales & Irene is keen on sharpening her skill as a major villain, so for this year's Otafuse, we're cosplaying Snow White & The Evil Queen. But before that, we decided to visit our dearest friend & little Cayla.

Unfortunately, our cosplay getup didn't seem to get the approval from Cayla since she seems a little scared and uptight after seeing us, she didn't even give us her usual hug, so sad 😭 To avoid traumatizing her any further,  we left early for the event, lol.

Here are some of the pics that we managed to get before leaving out for lunch.

My Snow White dress was designed and sewn by Irene, it's very comfortable and light weight, even though there's many layers on it. I actually gained a lot of weight, lol how did that happen, but Irene's really good at measuring and altering so this ends up fitting me like a glove.

The Evil Queen must endure a heavy cape, a thick head gear and a majestic crown that doesn't want to sit still on her head, which explains the serious expression 😠

Then off we go to Cafe De Vie, Metro Town for our lunch. This is my current favourite cafe because not only did their crepe cake taste great, but everything on their menu that I'd tried so far tasted really good. Their staffs are friendly too which is always a plus.

Here's what we have for lunch,

Butter Prawn Spagetti

Cafe De Vie Special Fried Rice

Nachos

So that's it for day 1........

4711 Original Eau de Cologne by Maurer & Wirtz

A souvenir from a dear friend during her trip to Germany a few months back. This is a classic cologne with over 200 years of history. 4711 is named after the house number given to the factory where it was produced at Glockengasse, Cologne during the French occupation of the Rhineland.

4711 Original Eau de Cologne by Maurer & Wirtz was first launched in 1792, it's a citrus aromatic fragrance for women and men. If you're wondering how a classic scent from 1792 smells like, here are the listed notes ~
Top Notes : Orange oil, peach, basil, bergamot and lemon
Middle Notes : Cyclamen, lily, melon, jasmine and bulgarian rose
Base Notes : Patchouli, tahitian vetiver, musk, sandalwood, oakmoss and cedar.

Unisex cologne tend to be sharp and clean. So I was not so surprised when the initial spray left me with a blast of citrusy and minty notes. It actually smells a lot like a lemonade, as if someone just splash me with a whole jug of lemonade, an instant wake me up, lol. It then slowly dissipates into a herbal woody scent.

Since this is an Eau de Cologne, there is no sillage nor longevity. It's a fleeting scent that's meant to give you a burst of instant freshness. Perfect for a quick pick me up in the morning or during those lazy afternoon when you're in need of a re-charge.

This is a scent with an acquired taste, a sniff from the bottle won't reveal it's lemony goodness as it smells a little synthetic and medicinal. I do think it will appeal more to those who have a preference for citrusy scent. As for me, I wear it after bath for an extra clean and energizing effect. It only lasted 10 minutes on my skin, so it never interrupts with my other perfume that I wear later on.

Till today, 4711 remains a classic scent. Emulated by many but hard to surpassed.

La Vie Est Belle ~ Lancome

If you're a big gourmand perfume lover, La Vie Est Belle by the french fragrance house, Lancome should be on your top fragrance list to own.

Inspired by joy, happiness & taking pleasure in all the little things, Julia Roberts is the face behind the perfume campaign. A perfect choice as she does exudes a warm and charming aura. La Vie Est Belle is also inspired by natural and simplistic beauty which can be seen from the minimalist design of the bottle. It has a stunning modern design and I do love the sleek look of it.

La Vie Est Belle EDP 4ml

Top Notes : Blackcurrant & Pear
Middle Notes : Iris, Jasmine & Orange Blossom
Base Notes : Patchouli, Tonka bean, Vanilla, Praline.

On my skin, it opens up with a burst of blackcurrant & pear, before it starts to blend into the floral scent of iris, jasmine and orange blossom. The fruity floral notes last for hours before it starts to mellow into the warm, powdery scent of patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla and praline. This is a perfume where I could actually detect all the notes, which is a rarity in my previous experience.

For those who love sweet perfume scent, this should be right up your alley, as it stays sweet throughout the day I wore it. On my skin, the perfume last from the morning I dab it on till the time I took a shower. On my cardigan, the scent stays on longer and I could still smell a whiff of it's delicious scent even after laundry. This is a scent that has a strong silage, people could actually smell you from across the room, a few dabs of this is all I need to smell good the whole day, though I do avoid using this on days I wish to stay incognito, lol. For those who purchase the bottle spray, 1 or 2 spritz is all you need as it will definitely suffocate people around you especially those with a delicate nose.

Overall, I really do love this scent. It has a cheerful, uplifting vibe to it. Sweet but elegant. I find it to be suitable for day and night wear. It's a crowd favourite and children seems to love this scent as it does smell really sweet & delicious. If you're looking for a perfume that last hours and hours and hours....do try this and be amazed!

Lolita Lempicka

I first came upon a Lolita Lempicka ad during the late 90s, when I was flipping through a magazine. The fairy-tale like, apple shaped bottle really pique my interest and I always wonder if the scent is as beautiful as it's bottle?

Some people love to have their own signature scent, that includes me. I rarely stray from my usual choice of perfume. But I find my current Fancy Love perfume to be lacking in strength and doesn't last long on my skin, either my body chemistry no longer suits it or it's somehow reformulated to be milder.

One day, while cleaning out all my old stuffs from my room, I found a pretty birthday card from an old friend, it's a handmade collage card that has all these cutesy designs that's supposed to depict me, and one of them is a picture of Lolita Lempicka perfume, because apparently it sounds a lot like my name. Hmmm, perhaps I should try it? lol.

Lolita Lempicka is not a perfume that I would easily come across in beauty counters and shopping malls here. The fact that it was first released in 1997 makes it even harder to look for. There's actually a new version of Lolita Lempicka named Lolita Lempicka Le Premier Parfum, but first I wanted to try out this EDT version.

Thanks to all the latest online shopping websites, I was able to browse through various choices of Lolita Lempicka perfumes, I finally decided to try on the mini 5ml bottle, which has the exact same bottle design as the regular bottle, it's cute and eye catching. I thought if the scent really doesn't suits me, at least it'll still look pretty on my vanity table.

Lolita Lempicka Eau de Toilette 5ml

Top Notes : Apricot, Cherry, Lemon
Middle Notes : Iris, Jasmine Sambac
Base Notes : Musk, Incense, Violet

At first whiff, it reminds me of the air after a stormy rain, a damp earthy scent that reminds me of the woods near my home. The scent is unusual and something that I have never smelt before. It's citrusy, woody and clean at the same time. The perfume ad for Lolita Lempicka is spot on, as it does have a fairy-tale like scent to it. The fruity notes in this perfume are not quite noticeable on my skin, though I did get a hint of apricot at first spray, the most dominant notes on me are the floral notes, Violet and Iris. There's a faint musky, powdery hint towards the drydown, which I really love. It's a scent that I would associate with someone who loves nature and spends her free time frolicking in the forest.

This is a scent that stays close to the skin,  it has a mild sillage, it's only noticeable if someone is standing close to you so it doesn't smell cloying at all. The only downside is it doesn't stay too long on my skin. It's a light scent and I need to re-apply it as the scent disappear after a few hours on me.

Overall, it's perfect for those who prefer a unique clean, woody scent that's light, sweet and powdery at the same time. Since this is an unusual scent that may be a hit or miss for some, do get the tester or sample vials before committing to a whole big bottle, as everyone has different body chemistry that may react differently to each perfume.

As for me, I'll try the EDP version once this ran out as this feels a little too light on me. Nevertheless I do find it to be a beautiful, light and fleeting scent.

MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask

The latest health and beauty product that's about to hit the Malaysian beauty market is MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask. A self warming heat mask that slowly warms up to 40 Degree Celsius once you placed it on your tired eyes, leaving you with bright and soothing eyes.

Sounds great? Yesssss especially if you're like me who's eyes are always glued on my smartphone and computer all day long, which often leaves me with tired, strained eyes and headaches too.

MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask has an unscented range and scented ranges. The scented ranges are made from rich blend of natural essentials oil, there's 4 different scents such as :
  • Lavender-Sage Aroma
  • Chamomile Ginger Aroma
  • Fresh Rose Aroma
  • Yuzu Aroma

Lavender-Sage Aroma calms and relaxes your senses while Fresh Rose Aroma soothes and brightens your mood. Both of these smell great, my personal fave is the Fresh Rose Aroma simply because I love the delicate rose scent.

Yuzu Aroma refreshes and calms your senses while Chamomile-Ginger Aroma calms and releases stress.Yuzu has the most uplifting scent out of all the different ranges. If  you're in need of a kick during those sleepy afternoon at the office, do try this out as it instantly give you an uplifting effect. On me, Chamomile-Ginger Aroma has the same effect as Lavender-Sage Aroma, both scents are soothing and they made me sleep better at night too.

For those who prefer having no fragrances on their health & beauty products, there's an unscented range that's perfect for you.

MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask cost RM23 per box and each box contains 5 individually packaging steam eye mask.

If you're wondering how this eye mask gradually increase it's temperature to 40 Degree Celsius, it's because once the packaging is opened, the sachets that contains iron powder on both sides of the eye mask instantly reacts with oxygen, thus generating heat. But fear not, it won't turn into a boiling point, lol, just warm enough to sooth tired, dry eyes.

This eye mask came with ear straps which prevents it from slipping off. It also conforms to our eye contours, so it stays on comfortably while you're using it.

MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask  is super convenient as you can use this anytime anywhere, perfect for those who's always on the go. I have really bad eyesight, which at times causes me to have some headaches whenever I spend too long on the computer. I find this to be quite beneficial in easing my eye strains and headaches.

The heat generated from the steam eye mask causes my eye region to sweat, which reminds me a lot of doing spa, except it's for my eyes, lol, The heat starts to slowly cool down after a while and I usually let it stay for 10-15 minutes before taking them off. My eyes appear much brighter once I removed the steam eye mask.

10 minutes is all we need to make our eyes feeling fresh and rejuvenated. Anyone, even those with a busy lifestyle can easily set aside 10 minutes for a special pampering on their eyes. Whether you're out there working in an office, at home or traveling, this can be easily used during those break times as it's travel friendly and there's no worry about spillage.

Personally I would use this after a long day of wearing contact lenses as my eyes always feels a little dry and tired. This helps a lot to relief my strained eyes. Using this before bedtime also helps me to sleep better at night. I feel asleep faster and wake up feeling well rested the next day.

MegRhythm Steam Mask are available on major e-commerce sites from 24th April onwards, here are the links :
If you prefer to get these in-store, do check out Aeon Wellness and your nearest Watsons store. You can get it at RM23 per box, which contains five pieces of steam eye mask.
